A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE MIKE CHANEY FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

WHEREAS, Representative Michael Jackson "Mike" Chaney, a native of Tupelo, Mississippi, has served as a member of the House of Representatives since 1993; and

WHEREAS, Representative Chaney received a bachelor's degree in business finance from Mississippi State University and is a successful businessman and farmer; and

WHEREAS, Representative Chaney of House District 54, serves on the House Banks and Banking Committee, the Conservation and Water Resources Committee, the Education Committee, the Judiciary "A" Committee and the Oil, Gas and Other Minerals Committee; and

WHEREAS, through his involvement on the Education Committee, Representative Chaney, a strong advocate of improving the education of the students of Mississippi, has devoted tireless efforts to bringing new technology to the classrooms; and

WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Representative Chaney is a member of the Rotary Club, the Economic Development Foundation of Warren County, the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, the Mississippi Economic Council, the American Legion and is a veteran of the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, Representative Chaney has been lovingly supported in all his endeavors by his beautiful wife, the former Mary Thurmond, and their three children; and

WHEREAS, Representative Chaney has brought much credit to himself and the House of Representatives by his dedication, hard work and steadfast commitment to doing those things that he believed were in the best interests of the people he represents and the people of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and express our sincere appreciation to Representative Michael Jackson "Mike" Chaney for his many contributions to the legislative process and the State of Mississippi and extend to him our heartiest wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Chaney and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
